These modules lay a solid foundation with a comprehensive introduction to sustainability issues and sustainable finance fundamentals. Learners acquire essential knowledge of environmental, climate, and other challenges and key financial concepts that support sustainable solutions, preparing themselves to engage effectively in advanced studies under the certificate courses.

In an era where the importance of climate accountability surpasses mere sustainability to emerge as a key financial concern for corporate entities, the HKGFA is set to organize a training session tailored to prepare listed companies for the forthcoming International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)-aligned climate disclosure requirements mandated by HKEX.

This course offers an in-depth understanding of green finance taxonomies. It highlights their development, role in classifying green and transitional economic activities and guiding investment allocation and decision-making.

This course provides a comprehensive exploration of sustainability disclosure, beginning with the strategic market and regulatory drivers that have made ESG transparency a business necessity. It details the technical foundations of carbon accounting, teaching learners how to systematically measure and report greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 using global frameworks like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064. Finally, the course examines the primary global reporting standards specifically the GRI, ISSB, and ESRS to help organisations navigate complex requirements such as double materiality, value chain reporting, and the move towards auditability or "assurability" in sustainability statements.

This course offers an overview of sustainable finance and capital market products. It highlights the key features of various financial instruments, implementation metrics, standards, and real-world case studies.
